BODY AND REVERB
Eduardo Aispuro is a Southern California artist. His undulating paintings explore volume and surface by playing with light articulation and shadow. The individual structures of each canvas are uniquely built, buttressing the protrusions in the paintings that appear as broken bones or three dimensional geometric forms that protract and incite the viewer into an infinite moving circuit. Inspired by musical and sonic elements, the work plays with the idea of reverb, reverb as not solely a musical note when struck causing an effect, but rather as a combination of the note, the space and the spatial location of the listener in relation to the sound. Like waves emanating from the wall, the viewer experiences the phenomenological aspects of their body in relation to the work, and this experience of perception, like reverb, will change based on the location of the body, the space, and the form of the painting.
